Many businesses have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, but online retail giant Amazon isn’t one of them. Prime, Amazon’s subscription service that offers free shipping and other perks, now has over 142 million subscribers, which is more than half of the adult population in the United States!
Since there’s a 50-50 chance that you, the reader, is a subscriber, Buffalo Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing has five tips and tricks to save you some time and money while shopping on Amazon.
- Check All Price Options
If you click on an item, the price will naturally show up from either Amazon or the third-party retailer that came up in your search. However, look for a link that says “Other Sellers on Amazon.” Oftentimes, you’ll be able to find the same item for a lower price, especially if you don’t need the item immediately and can withstand slower shipping options.
- Check Preowned Items
Amazon’s Warehouse and Renewed programs, found under the same “Other Sellers on Amazon” link, offer refurbished or like-new products at reduced prices. And the best part—these items come with money-back guarantees if they don’t work as they should.
- Check for Deals
If you’re a bargain hunter, the Outlet section is for you! This is updated daily with clearance deals on all sorts of items that you just might not be able to pass up.
- Check Color Options
Clothes and electronics are two options where a variety of colors may be available. But if you click on each color, you might notice that some colors are cheaper than others. If color isn’t important to you, this is a good way to save a few bucks on your order.
- Alternatives to Prime
If you don’t shop frequently enough to make the $12-per-month charge for Prime worthwhile, just wait until you have $25 worth of merchandise in your online cart. Once you hit that threshold, shipping will be free!
