Former Patient at Buffalo CenterI had been hospitalized for heart failure, and when they were ready to discharge me, I was ready to go home. Or so I thought. The medical staff recommended that I go to a rehab facility. I wondered why. I’m fine, I thought. But once I was admitted to Buffalo Center, it only took me a couple of days to realize how important rehab was. I was weaker than I thought. The physical and occupational therapists put together a personalized therapy plan for me and I was amazed by how much stronger the daily exercises made me feel. I was only at Buffalo Center for two weeks, and the therapists and nurses were all wonderful. I don’t want to get sick again, but if I do I’d go back to Buffalo Center for sure!

Former Patient at Buffalo CenterMy condition was bad and getting worse. I had blood clots in my legs; there was swelling, and it was extremely painful. I couldn’t function on my own. I needed help and fast—before my situation deteriorated even more. Buffalo Center answered the call. When I first came to the Center I was bedridden, but the therapists and nurses worked wonders. Occasionally I got frustrated, but they never lost patience with me. They encouraged me and always treated me with respect. It wasn’t just the therapists, though. The doctor answered all my questions, the activities were great—we had fun and laughed a lot—and even the housekeeping and social work staff were there for me. It was a wonderful experience, and thanks to Buffalo Center, I’m back home, on my own two feet!

Former Patient at Buffalo Center"My knee was in such bad shape I had to be hospitalized. The technical term for it is knee osteoarthritis—bone rubbing against bone. What it meant for me was severe pain. I could barely move. My doctor said there’s no cure, but it can be treated. That’s how I ended up at Buffalo Center. I had heard great things about their therapists, and everything I had heard turned out to be true. The nurses are wonderful, and I was very impressed by each of them. The therapists are exceptional, and are dedicated to their work. Sometimes I wonder how they kept me going, but they did. Thank you to everyone for working so hard to get me home. Because of the Buffalo Center team, I can get around on my own—do my own laundry and cook my own meals. I love you all."

Former Patient at Buffalo CenterI have COPD and earlier this year it got really bad. I was coughing and wheezing—I could hardly breathe. I couldn’t do the simplest things—like getting dressed—without help. Thank goodness they had a bed for me at Buffalo Center. The team there is really great. The nurses monitored my medication and general condition, while the therapists concentrated on improving my physical abilities. And by the way, the food was really good, too! There’s no cure for COPD, but the team at Buffalo Center got it under control, and within a month I was back home again, feeling stronger. I’m on my own and independent!

Former Patient at Buffalo CenterMy mom was in pretty bad shape: weak, dizzy, with chest pain. She had problems with her heart. When she was admitted to Buffalo Center, I wasn’t sure she’d ever be able to come home. The team there reassured me that they’d get her back home—and they did! Our whole family was very impressed with the care and love she received from the staff. They were very helpful, answering any questions we had. We are so thankful to the entire Buffalo Center team. Our mother is back home!

Former Patient at Buffalo CenterI was tired all the time and didn’t want to eat. I often felt nauseous, was losing weight, and I found that I bruised easily. My doctor said I had advanced cirrhosis of the liver and recommended I go to Buffalo Center for treatment. Honestly, I was afraid I’d never be able to go home again. But the Buffalo Center team—from the social workers to the nurses to the therapists—said that if I worked hard, they’d work just as hard to get me back home. And they came through! The physical and occupational therapy worked wonders. It took time and effort, but it was all worth it. I’m home and feeling stronger than I’ve felt in years!

Former Patient at Buffalo CenterI have serious issues with my weight, with complications like diabetes, which led to several falls. I was afraid even to be lifted mechanically. I panicked. didn’t know what to do. Fortunately, the team at Buffalo Center knew exactly what I needed to do. First of all, they treated me with respect, which is just as important as the medical and therapy treatment. But let me say, the therapy is wonderful, and the activities are fun and engaging. But the rehab staff is the love of my heart. They’ve been with me from day one. I can stand on my own again and I feel stronger than ever. The Buffalo Center team really moved me—in all kinds of ways.
